Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili met with Regional Director for the Caucasus of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) Catarina Bjorlin Hansen, Trend reports via Georgian media.
Garibashvili praised the successful cooperation with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and expressed hope that the EBRD will continue to support the development program of Georgia by financing the country's priority projects.
According to the head of government, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development is a loyal partner of Georgia, the financial assistance from which, received from 1992 to the present, amounted to about 4 billion euros. The largest share of the EBRD's portfolio is in the private sector, which has a strong and sustained impact on the country's economy.
The prime minister noted that Georgia is a country of strong European aspirations, which is following the European path of economic transformation, and the role of the EBRD in this path is critically important.
Garibashvili and Hansen discussed current projects and outlined prospects for future cooperation.
In Georgia, with funding from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, projects are being implemented in the field of energy, municipal infrastructure, banking, and agriculture.
"We had a very fruitful meeting with the prime minister of Georgia. We analyzed the activities of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development last year in the context of assisting in crises. We also talked together about the plans of Georgia and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. During the conversation, the very important achievements of the Investors Council, which is an active platform for dialogue between the public and private sectors, were also discussed," said Hansen.
