Iran is planned to export sweets, chocolate, grain, and cereal products worth $544 million in the current Iranian year (from March 21, 2021, through March 20, 2022), an official of the Trade Promotion Organization of Iran (TPOI) Mahmoud Bazari said, Trend reports referring to the organization’s website.
Bazari stressed that Iran has the potential to produce more than 2 million tons of these goods per year. The enterprises achieved positive results in the field of manufacturing over the last Iranian year (from March 20, 2020, through March 20, 2021).
He added that Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Azerbaijan, the UAE, some Central Asian and European countries will be the main markets for these goods.
The official said that in this regard, the public and private sectors were asked to take steps to address the problems of production and export companies, working capital, and other issues.
According to Bazari, the exports of sweets, chocolate, grain, and cereal products increased by 7 percent in terms of value and 21 percent in terms of volume during last Iranian year, compared to the preceding Iranian year (from March 21, 2019, through March 19, 2020).
As reported, Iran's total foreign trade turnover amounted to about 146 million tons worth $73 billion in the last Iranian year. During this period, Iran exported 112 million tons of goods worth about $35 billion and imported 33.4 million tons worth $38.4 billion.
