BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 12

By Jeila Aliyeva - Trend:

Turkmenistan and China will consider the possibilities of developing bilateral cooperation in the field of small business by activating the bilateral mechanism for establishing a direct partnership between commercial and state structures of the two countries, Trend reports with reference to Turkmenistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The proposal to consider the above-mentioned opportunities was put forward by the Turkmen side during the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Chinese Committee for Cooperation.

The sides expressed mutual interest in developing beneficial partnerships in the field of transport, communications and telecommunications, digital technologies, financial and banking systems.

Currently, gas cooperation is a key area of bilateral relations.

The sides called for the intensification of the work of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Chinese Committee for Cooperation aimed at identifying priority areas of trade and economic cooperation and creating favorable conditions for closer partnership between the two countries.

Turkmenistan and China cooperate in several areas. In particular, cooperation in the energy sector is highlighted.

As reported, a new field in Bagtyyarlyk contractual PSA territory is being put into operation in the country. The exploration and development of this field are carried out by the China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC).

CNPC signed the Bagtyyarlyk Production Sharing Agreement with Turkmenistan in 2007 and began to purchase natural fuel in Central Asia since 2009, after the launch of a gas pipeline from Turkmenistan to China through the territories of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan.
