Uzbekistan, Russia eye removing barriers to mutual trade

Uzbekistan and Russia plan to take consistent practical measures to assist in the introduction of products of manufacturers to the markets of the two countries, Trend reports referring to the press service of the government portal of Uzbekistan.

At a meeting held on June 22, chaired by Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Abdulla Aripov and Prime Minister of Russia Mikhail Mishustin, it was noted that the relations of strategic partnership and alliance between Uzbekistan and Russia were enriched with practical content.

It was also noted that the activity of relations between the countries will contribute to the practical content of the agenda of the expected visit of Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Russia.

The heads of government believe that cooperation between Uzbekistan and Russia is steadily developing in trade, economic, investment, transport, cultural and humanitarian spheres.

In addition, it was noted that despite the COVID-19 pandemic, mutual trade growth between Russia and Uzbekistan has been ensured since the beginning of the year. Over the past period of this year, trade turnover increased by 15 percent in relation to 2020.

Also, the leaders of the two countries have set before the heads of government the task of bringing the trade turnover to $10 billion in the near future. In this regard, it is planned to remove barriers in mutual trade and take consistent practical measures to assist in bringing the products of Russian and Uzbek manufacturers to the markets of the two countries.

Moreover, the event discussed issues of consistent development of bilateral partnerships in the fields of transport, education, medicine, external labor migration, as well as in the cultural and humanitarian sphere.

As a result of the meeting, more than 10 documents were signed aimed at further development of cooperation between Uzbekistan and Russia.
