The national forest program of Turkmenistan for 2021-2025 and the action plan for its implementation have been approved, Trend reports with reference to Turkmenistan’s State News Agency.
The plan was confirmed by President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.
The objectives of the confirmation of the plan are: strengthening the legal framework of state policy in the field of environmental protection, determining the main directions of activities to prevent climate change and reduce its impact, increasing the resilience of ecosystems and forestry to climate change, as well as to successfully implement the National Strategy of Turkmenistan on Climate Change in a new edition.
Turkmenistan pays special attention to finding solutions to the problems of climate change, reducing the impact of transport and communications on the environment. In general, the country is working in the field of nature protection, conservation of biological diversity and natural landscapes.
This work is carried out within the framework of the National Strategy of Turkmenistan on Climate Change and the National Forest Program of Turkmenistan and other programs.
Turkmenistan pays special attention to the problems of the Aral Sea.
