China attaches importance to strengthening ties with Turkmenistan

China attaches particular importance to strengthening comprehensive ties with Turkmenistan, Trend reports with reference to the State News Agency of Turkmenistan, as was noted during the meeting of President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov with Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi.

The main approaches of the parties to further building the interstate dialogue were named.

Among the most important areas of cooperation between Turkmenistan and China, the parties identified: fuel and energy, transport and communication complexes, as well as healthcare, information, communications, high technologies, etc.

The sides noted that recent years have marked a real breakthrough in development of interstate relations, during which joint projects were implemented.

In addition, the parties confirmed their intention to continue working closely in the medical field, exchanging the accumulated positive experience in countering the COVID-19 pandemic.

Wang Yi arrived in Turkmenistan as part of a planned visit to three countries: Turkmenistan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan from July 12 through July 16, 2021..

Turkmenistan and China cooperate in several areas. In particular, cooperation in the energy sector is highlighted.

As reported, a new field in Bagtyyarlyk contractual PSA territory is being put into operation in the country. The exploration and development of this field are carried out by the China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC).

CNPC signed the Bagtyyarlyk Production Sharing Agreement with Turkmenistan in 2007 and began to purchase natural fuel in Central Asia since 2009, after the launch of a gas pipeline from Turkmenistan to China through the territories of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan.
