By Elnur Baghishov – Trend:

Iran exported 6,210 tons of canned fish worth $24 million over the last Iranian year (March 20, 2020 through March 20, 2021), Deputy Chairman of Iran Fisheries Organization Isa Golshahi told IRNA, Trend reports.

According to Golshahi, this is an increase of 60 percent in terms of value and about 100 percent in terms of volume, compared to the preceding Iranian year (from March 21, 2019 through March 19, 2020).

“Iran had exported 3,110 tons of canned fish worth $15 million in the preceding Iranian year,” he added.

The deputy chairman noted that Iranian-produced canned fish has been exported to CIS countries and countries around the Persian Gulf.

Golshahi stressed that in recent years, a number of economic problems, including devaluation, have resulted in higher prices for raw materials, aluminum food cans, edible oil and fish. At present, the price of 80 grams of canned tuna in Iran is about 300,000 rials (about $7.14).
