Iran's exports to Turkmenistan soar

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Sept. 22

Iran's exports to Turkmenistan increased by 232 percent in terms of value and 244 percent in terms of volume during the first five months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through August 22, 2021), compared to the same period last Iranian year, Spokesman for the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA) Rouhollah Latifi told Trend.

According to Latifi, Iran exported 616,000 tons of goods worth $117 million to Turkmenistan within the mentioned period.

“Meanwhile, in the same period last Iranian year, the exports amounted to 179,000 tons worth $35 million,” he added.

The official also noted that Iran imported 20,700 tons of goods worth $15 million from Turkmenistan over the five months, which is a decrease of 275 percent in terms of value and 42 percent in terms of volume, compared to the same period last Iranian year.

Latifi stressed that so, Iran imported 14,500 tons of goods worth $4 million from Turkmenistan in the same period last Iranian year.

As reported, Iran's trade turnover with foreign countries amounted to 59.3 million tons worth $34.2 billion during the first five months of the current Iranian year, which is an increase of 38 percent in terms of value and 14 percent in terms of volume compared to the same period last Iranian year.

So, Iran exported 45.5 million tons of goods worth $176 billion over the 5 months. The exports increased by 63 percent in terms of value and 20 percent in terms of volume compared to the same period last Iranian year.

Within 5 months, Iran imported 13.8 million tons of goods worth $16.6 billion, which is an increase of 21 percent in terms of value and decreased by 5 percent in terms of volume.
