Iran’s raw steel production decreased by 6.8 percent during the first five months of the current Iranian year (from March 21 through August 22, 2021), compared to the same period last Iranian year, Trend reports citing the statistics of the Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade of Iran.
According to the statistics, a total of 10.9 million tons of raw steel were produced in Iran over the reporting period. Meanwhile, in the same period last Iranian year, Iran has produced 11.6 million tons of crude steel.
“Also, the production of steel products in Iran for 5 months, decreased by 10.6 percent, compared to the same period last Iranian year. So, Iran produced 9.85 million tons of steel products in five months. Meanwhile, in the same period last Iranian year, the figure stood at 11 million tons,” the statistics said.
Within the five months, Iran produced 122,000 tons of copper cathode, which is an increase of 1.4 percent, compared to the same period last Iranian year. So, 120,000 tons of copper cathode were produced in Iran in the same period last Iranian year.
Moreover, the production of aluminum ingots in the first five months of the last Iranian year was 170,000 tons. This figure increased by 30.6 percent over the first five months of the current Iranian year and amounted to 222,000 tons.
Iran also produced 96,400 tons of alumina in first 5 months of the current Iranian year, which is decrease of 6 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year. So, the figure amounted to 103,000 tons in the same period last Iranian year.
In addition, there was a 4.1-percent decrease in Iran’s coal production over the 5 months. So, Iran produced 615,000 tons of coal within the mentioned period. Meanwhile, in the same period last Iranian year, this figure was 641,000 tons, the statistics said.
According to the statistics, cement production in Iran was 26.4 million tons in the five months. However, Iran has produced 29.6 million tons of cement in the same period last Iranian year. This means a decrease of 10.6 percent.
The production of sheet glass in Iran over the 5 months, increased by 26.5 percent, compared to the same period last Iranian year. So, Iran produced 548,000 tons of sheet glass during the reporting period. The figure stood at 433,000 tons in the same period last Iranian year.
"At the same time, Iran produced about 182 million square meters of ceramics in the five months that is 7.5 percent more than the same period last Iranian year. Thus, 169 million square meters of ceramics were produced in the country in the same period last Iranian year," the statistics said.
Furthermore, 305,000 tons of glassware were produced in Iran within the 5 months, which is an increase of 2.3 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year. So, 299,000 tons of glass containers were produced in the country in the same period last Iranian year.
Meanwhile, the production of porcelain for the first 5 months of the current Iranian year amounted to 24,000 tons. This is 20.7 percent more than the same period last Iranian year. So, Iran has produced 20,100 tons of porcelain in the same period last year, the statistics said.
