TEHRAN, Iran, Nov. 29
Trend:
Iran's membership in the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) will serve the collective interests, the former Iranian representative in OPEC told Trend in an interview.
The Economic Cooperation Organization could connect Iran to other countries and remove the obstacles and accelerate trade and economic cooperation between members, Mohamad Ali Khatibi noted.
The number of ECO members has increased in recent years, and these members are large oil and gas consumers, and some are exporters that could supply the market within the organization. The organization could be an intermediary in energy trade, he indicated.
The ECO could also accelerate negotiation between Iran and its members for investment in the International North-South Transportation Corridor and the East-West Transit Corridors. These projects could be profitable for Iran and several countries.
