IRICA reveals data on Iran’s saffron exports

Iran exported 121 tons of saffron worth $60.1 million, during the first seven months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through October 22, 2021), the Spokesman for the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA) Rouhollah Latifi said, Trend reports citing the administration.

The spokesman noted that Iran exported $37.3 million worth of saffron in 30-gram packages to 51 countries in 7 months.

“So, Iran exported 24.5 tons of saffron worth $13.3 million to China, 17.6 tons worth $7.56 million to Spain and 11.8 tons worth $5.79 million to the UAE in such packages for the reporting period,” he added.

According to Latifi, Iran also exported saffron worth $15.3 million in 10-gram packages to 52 countries within seven months. Thus, Iran exported saffron worth $4.31 million to China, worth $2.43 million to Spain, worth $2.17 million to the UAE, worth $1.82 million to Afghanistan and worth $784,000 to Kuwait in such batches.

“In addition, Iran exported $7.05 million worth of saffron in packages of 10-30 grams over the mentioned period. So, Iran exported saffron worth $5.15 million to the UAE, worth $590,000 to China, worth $325,000 to Hong Kong, worth $230,000 to Qatar and worth $123,000 to Italy in such packages,” the official said.

Latifi also pointed out in seven months, Iran exported $433,000 worth of saffron powder to 17 countries, including, Sweden, Spain, Germany, the UAE and Italy.

Meanwhile, in the last Iranian year (March 20, 2020 through March 20, 2021), Iran exported a total of 424 tons of saffron worth $190 million, as well as, 550 kg of saffron powder worth $674,000 to various countries, the spokesman stressed.
