Turkmenistan and FAO signed strategic documents within the framework of the recent visit to Ashgabat by Viorel Gutsu, the Sub-Regional Coordinator of the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) for Central Asia, Trend reports referring to Turkmenportal.
The new agreements relate to the regional project titled “Improving the efficiency of small ruminants production for reduction of greenhouse gas emission intensity”, and Cooperation Framework for 2021–2025.
The agreements will likely expand Turkmenistan’s sphere of interaction with the agrarian structure of FAO and will help get access to advanced technologies.
To date, Turkmenistan and the UN are jointly implementing five regional projects including “Project to improve locust management”, “Reducing food loss and waste in Central Asia and the Caucasus”, “Strengthening regional collaboration and national capacities for management of wheat rust diseases and resistance breeding in Central Asia and the Caucasus”, “Capacity Development for Sustainable Fisheries and Aquaculture Management in Central Asia, Azerbaijan, and Turkey”, and “Integrated natural resources management in drought-phone and salt-affected agricultural production landscapes in Central Asia and Turkey”.
