Turkmenistan has produced a trial batch of fiberglass rebar, which is in high demand in the construction industry, Deputy Prime Minister Charymyrat Purchekov said at a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers, Trend reports via Business Turkmenistan.
The trial batch was produced by JSC Senagattehnologiýalary, created jointly with the individual enterprise Algap, a member of Turkmenistan’s Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs.
Purchekov stated that Turkmenistan is working to establish new joint ventures specializing in the domestic production of import-substituting products, particularly composite construction reinforcement that replace steel one.
The company, according to the Deputy Chairman, has already received quality, conformity, and product safety certificates from a variety of government agencies.
At the moment, it has been directed to test composite rebar for strength and, if high quality is confirmed, to accelerate its widespread production.
The company also intends to begin producing composite rebar of various sizes to replace steel one, using basalt raw materials and quartz sand. The company intends to manufacture rebar from quartz sand, replacing 15,000 tonnes of steel rebar per year.
