Iran improves economic ties with African countries

TEHRAN, Iran, Feb.2

Trend:

Iran's exports to Africa have grown to reach $800 million in the last year despite the pandemic situation, said a Member of Parliament's Plan and Budget Commission Mojtaba Rezakhah, Trend reports citing Mehr News Agency.

"Iranian government and parliament are keen to expand ties with African countries especially with Kenya in agriculture, machinery, construction material, petrochemical, medical equipment, technology, nanotechnology, and mining industries," he said.

"The launch of Iran House of Innovation and Technology (iHiT) in Kenya has accelerated small startup companies and a positive step to expand economic ties between the two countries," Rezakhah explained.

The Iranian MP has suggested the launch of direct flights between Iran and Nairobi to promote bilateral ties.
