By Nargiz Sadikhova - Trend:
The first Trade Policy Review (TPR) of Kazakhstan is scheduled for 23 and 25 November, World Trade Organization (WTO) told Trend.
The TPR will be the first since Kazakhstan’s accession to WTO in 2015 and will be the opportunity for the whole membership to engage in a peer-review exercise of the trade policies carried out by its Government over the past years.
“Surveillance of national trade policies is a fundamentally important activity running throughout the work of the WTO with all members being periodically reviewed,” the WTO official said.
Thus, the TPR of Kazakhstan is scheduled for 23 and 25 November. Two reports – one by the Kazakh government and one by the WTO Secretariat – will be published on the occasion of the TPR.
With regards the support the WTO provides, the official said, Kazakhstan benefits from trade-related technical assistance activities aimed at helping developing countries build their trade capacity so that they can participate more effectively in global trade.
