BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 16. Iran's exports to Arab and African countries increased by 20 percent in value, over the last Iranian year (March 21, 2021 through March 20, 2022), compared to the preceding Iranian year (March 20, 2020 through March 20, 2021), Director General of Trade Promotion Organization of Iran’s (TPOI) Arabic-African Affairs Office Farzad Piltan said, Trend reports citing the organization’s website.

The director general noted that Iran exported about $16.3 billion worth of goods to Arab and African countries last Iranian.

"Meanwhile, in the preceding Iranian year, the value of exports amounted to about $13.6 billion," he said.

According Piltan, Iran exported goods worth $8.9 billion to Iraq, worth $4.9 billion to the UAE, worth $716 million to Oman, worth $353 million to Ghana and worth $254 million to South Africa for the reporting period.

In addition, Iran exported goods worth $218 million to Syria, worth $158 million to Kuwait, worth $133 million to Qatar, worth $125 million to Nigeria and worth $98 million to Mozambique, the official added.

As for Iran's imports from Arab and African countries for the last Iranian year, Piltan stressed that the value of imports amounted to about $18.5 billion, which is an increase of 76 percent compared to the preceding Iranian year. So, the figure stood at $10.4 billion in the preceding Iranian year.

Iran imported goods worth $16.5 billion from the UAE, worth $1.19 billion from Iraq, worth $619 million from Oman, worth $30 million from Syria and worth $18 million from Lebanon within last Iranian year.
