BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 2. The volume of rapeseed purchased from farmers under a guarantee in Iran has doubled, from the beginning of the current harvesting season in Iran (March 24, 2022) to May 1, compared to the same period last Iranian year, the Director-General of the Internal Procurement Department of the Government Trading Corporation (GTC) Morteza Saadati Kia said, Trend reports citing the corporation’s website.
In total, 58,000 tons of rapeseed were purchased from farmers under a guarantee in the country within the mentioned period, Saadati Kia said.
The director general added that currently, rapeseed is being purchased from farmers in 7 southern provinces of the country.
According to him, the value of rapeseed purchased so far is 8.26 trillion rials (about $196 million).
The price of 1 kg of rapeseed was set up at 150,000 rials (about $3.57 million) for the current Iranian year.
A number of products, including wheat, tea, rice, and other products are purchased from farmers by GTC under a guarantee in Iran.
