Iran records increase in transit of goods via its Bilasuvar border checkpoint

BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 25. Transit of goods through Iran’s Bilasuvar border checkpoint in the Ardabil Province (north-western Iran) increased by 64 percent, during the first two months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through May 21, 2022), compared to the same period last Iranian year, Director General of the Road and Transport Department of Iran’s Ardabil Province, Kalimollah Vosughi told reporters, Trend reports citing ILNA.

According to Vosughi, a total of 83,000 tons of goods were transited through this border checkpoint in 2 months. The main transited goods were mineral water, tires, rice, tea, construction materials, ceramics, tractor, etc.

The director general also said that 750,000 tons of goods were exported through the Bilasuvar border checkpoint for the reporting period. The exported goods were mainly agricultural products, construction materials, ceramics, profile, salt, etc.

He added that these goods were exported to Azerbaijan, Russia and Georgia by 3,968 trucks.

“In two months, more than 21,000 various vehicles (buses, trucks, cars) crossed through the border checkpoint, which is an increase of 35 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year,” Vosughi noted.

The official also pointed out that about 12,000 people crossed through the border terminal for 2 months.
