BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 29. Annually 60,000 tons of fish are expected to be grown in Iran’s Bushehr Province (southern Iran), as of next Iranian year (March 21, 2023 through March 19, 2024), Governor of Iran’s Ardabil Province Ahmad Mohammadizadeh said, Trend reports citing ISNA.
He made the remark at an event regarding the launch of new cages for fish farming on the coast of the Persian Gulf in Tangestan County of Bushehr Province on September 29.
The governor noted that the launch of new cages will allow a further increase in the province's capacity for fish farming.
Mohammadizadeh emphasized that increasing the number of fish farms in the province and creating the necessary conditions for the production and packaging of fishery products is the focus of attention in the province.
During the event, Director General of the Fisheries Department of Bushehr Province Ali Bazdar said that 4 cages with a capacity of 500 tons each were put into use today, and a total of 200,000 barramundi fish were released into the cages.
“A total of 500 billion rials (about $11.9 million) has been spent in this regard., the fish will be put on sale after 9 months,” he added.
