BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 31. The number of citizens crossing through Iran’s Bilasuvar border checkpoint in Ardabil Province (north-western Iran), increased by 236 percent during the first seven months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through October 22, 2022), compared to the same period last Iranian year, head of Iran's Bilasuvar border terminal Lotfollah Babaei said, Trend reports citing Iranian Ministry of Roads and Urban Development.
According to Babaei, more than 44,000 citizens crossed through Bilasuvar border checkpoint in 7 months. Of them, 2,741 were Iranian citizens, and 41,365 were foreign citizens.
“Meanwhile, in the same period last Iranian year, the number of citizens crossed via Bilasuvar border checkpoint amounted to 13,142 people,” he added.
The official said that 2,709 Iranian citizens entered Iran through the Bilasuvar border checkpoint, while 32 people left the country in 7 months.
At the same time, 19,088 foreign citizens entered Iran and 22,277 people left the country through the Bilasuvar border checkpoint within the mentioned period, Babaei noted.
The Bilasuvar border checkpoint is located on the border between Iran and Azerbaijan.
