BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 19. The number of vehicles crossing through Iran’s Bilasuvar border checkpoint in Ardabil Province (north-western Iran), increased by 46 percent during the first seven months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through October 22, 2022), compared to the same period last Iranian year, head of Iran's Bilasuvar border terminal Lotfollah Babaei said, Trend reports citing Iranian Ministry of Roads and Urban Development.

According to Babaei, more than 81,312 vehicles crossed through the Bilasuvar border checkpoint in 7 months.

“Meanwhile, in the same period last Iranian year, the figure stood at 55,570 vehicles,” he added.

The official noted that in 7 months, 46,713 vehicles left the country through the Bilasuvar border checkpoint, while 34,599 vehicles entered the country.

“At the same time, more than 80,000 trucks crossed through the mentioned border checkpoint. Of this, 46,145 units entered the country, while 34,000 units left the country,” Babaei said.

In addition, 1,107 buses crossed through the Bilasuvar border checkpoint in 7 months, of which, 553 units left the country and 554 entered the country. This is an increase of 169 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year. So, the figure was 411 units in the same period last Iranian year.

The official also pointed out that 24 passenger cars crossed through the Bilasuvar terminal in 7 months. Fifteen of them entered the country, while 9 left the country for the reporting period.

The Bilasuvar border checkpoint is located on the border between Iran and Azerbaijan.
