BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 24. Iran's onion export increased by 25 percent in value and 51.8 percent in volume, during the first seven months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through October 22, 2022), compared to the same period last Iranian year, Director General of the Export Department of Iran’s Ministry of Agriculture Jihad, Moharram Solatani told IRNA, Trend reports.
The director general noted that Iran exported a total of 246,000 tons of onions worth more than $34 million in 7 months.
“Meanwhile, in the same period last Iranian year, Iran’s onion exports stood at 162,000 tons worth $27.2 million,” he added.
According to Soltani, Iran exported 101,000 tons of onions worth $14 million in the 7th month of the current Iranian year (September 23 through October 22, 2022) alone.
He also said that Iran’s onions were mainly exported to Pakistan. So, the demand for import of onions in Pakistan has increased due to floods in the country.
