BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 12. More than 27.1 million tons of vegetables are expected to be harvested in Iran for the current planting year (September 23, 2022 through September 22, 2023), Iranian Deputy Minister of Agriculture Jihad and Director General of the ministry’s Fodder and Vegetable Production Bureau, Hossein Asghari said, Trend reports citing IRNA.

Asghari noted that the vegetables were cultivated on an area of approximately 725,000 hectares in the country in the current planting year, and it is expected that 37.3 tons of vegetables will be harvested from each hectare.

“Meanwhile, last planting year (September 23, 2021 through September 22, 2022), vegetables were cultivated on more than 681,000 hectares of land in the country,” the director general added.

According to him, in total, about 25.2 million tons of vegetables were harvested last year. It means that on average, 37.1 tons of vegetables were harvested from each hectare in the last planting year.

On average, 120 million tons of agricultural products are harvested in Iran per year. The figure is planned to reach 150 million tons in 3 years (September 23, 2025 through September 22, 2026).
