BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 15. In total, about 5.6 million tons of citrus fruits are estimated to be harvested in Iran within the current Iranian year (March 21, 2022 through March 20, 2023), Director-General of Agriculture Ministry’s Tropical and Subtropical Fruit Bureau Zahra Jalili Moqaddam told IRIB, Trend reports.
“Of the mentioned volume, approximately 3.4 million tons are expected to account for oranges,” Jalili Moqaddam said.
The director general also added that a total of 150,000 tons of citrus fruits worth about $57 million were exported from Iran during the first nine months of the current year (March 21 through December 21, 2022). The exported citrus fruits were mainly oranges (107,000 tons), mandarin oranges (37,000 tons) and lemons (5,000 tons).
The official emphasized that no disease was observed in citrus fruits this year.
