BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 16. Iran will soon start exporting citrus fruits to China under the agreement signed between the two countries, Director General of the Export Department of Iran’s Ministry of Agriculture Jihad Moharram Soltani said Trend reports citing Tasnim News Agency.
Soltani noted that in addition to the country's consumption, about 700,000 tons of citrus fruits are cultivated in Iran annually. Based on this, Iran plans to export citrus fruits to China.
“During the first nine months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through December 21, 2022), Iran's citrus exports increased by 14 percent both in terms of value and volume compared to the same period last Iranian year,” he added.
The director general said that Iran's citrus fruits for the reporting period were mainly exported to neighboring countries.
According to him, a total of 150,000 tons of citrus fruits worth about $57 million were exported from Iran in 9 months.
