BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 23. Iran’s export of non-oil products through the Astara border checkpoint in Gilan Province (northern Iran) amounted to 607,000 tons worth more than $360 million, during the first nine months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through December 21, 2022), Director General of Iran's Astara Customs Office, Ali Hossein Zulghadri told IRNA, Trend reports.

The director general said that the exports increased by 5 percent in value compared to the same period last Iranian year.

Zulghardi added that the main exported non-oil products via the Astara border checkpoint were agricultural products, petrochemical products, industrial products, etc. The mentioned products were exported to Azerbaijan, Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, Kazakhstan and other countries.

“Furthermore, 160,000 tons of goods worth $89.2 million were imported through Astara border checkpoint in 9 months, which is an increase of 13 percent in value compared to the same period last Iranian year,” he noted.

According to him, wooden materials, manufacturing equipment, animal feed and so on were the main imported goods via the Astara border checkpoint for the reporting period. The mentioned goods were mainly imported from Azerbaijan, Russia, Georgia, Switzerland and Belarus.

“Within 9 months, about 264,000 tons of cargo were transited through the Astara border checkpoint in 9 months, which is an increase of 51 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year. Wood materials, various agricultural products, flour, barley, wheat, cooking oil, soft drinks, etc. were transported from Russia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan to Iraq, Türkiye, the UAE, Afghanistan, India and Pakistan,” Zulghardi also pointed out.
