Iran shares data on fishery exports

BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 18. Iran exported more than 2,260 tons of various fish and fishery products, during a week (January 30 through February 6, 2023), an official of Iran Fisheries Organization Abbas Mokhtari said, Trend reports citing the organization’s website.

According to him, Iran exported about 105 tons of trout, 487 tons of carp, and 239 tons of other fish species within the mentioned week.

The official said that Iran also exported 18.5 tons of crab, 27.8 tons of squid, and 345 tons of cutlassfish were exported from the country within 1 week.

Mokhtari noted that 561 tons of shrimp, 84 tons of greater lizardfish and 26.5 tons of Indian mackerel were exported during the mentioned period.

“In addition, approximately 292 tons of dried fish were exported from the country for the reporting period,” Mokhtari added.

Meanwhile, Iran exported 166,000 tons of fish and related products worth $556 million over the last Iranian year (March 21, 2021 through March 20, 2022), which is an increase of 27 percent in value and 67 percent in volume compared to the preceding Iranian year (March 20, 2020 through March 20, 2021).

In general, about 1.26 million tons of fish and related products were farmed and caught in Iran in the last Iranian year. Of this, 557,000 tons were farmed and 752,000 tons were caught.

Overall, 1.46 million tons of fish and fishery products are planned to be farmed and caught in Iran for the current Iranian year (March 21, 2022 through March 20, 2023).
