Iran looks to open new agriculture sector facilities worth $20M in Qom Province

BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 12. It is planned to open new facilities worth 940 billion rials (about $22.4 million) within the framework of 20 projects in Iran’s Qom Province in the north of the during the agriculture week in Iran (June 11 through June 17, 2023), Director of the Qom Province Agriculture Department, Mohammad Reza Hajireza said, Trend reports.

The director stressed that 368 people will be provided with jobs with the launch of the facilities.

Hajireza also added that the facilities will operate in animal husbandry, poultry farming, processing industry, fishing and so on.

According to him, the value of Qazvin Province’s agricultural production for the last Iranian year (March 21, 2022 through March 20, 2023) was approximately 237 trillion rials (about $5.64 billion), while in the current year (March 21, 2023 through March 19, 2024), the value is expected to increase significantly.

“Iran’s Qom Province aims to promote its products both regionally and internationally, by increasing the export potential of sturgeon caviar, pistachios, olives, eggs and other agricultural products,” the official noted.

On average, 850,000 tons of agricultural products are cultivated in Qom Province of Iran per year. Reportedly, 40,000 people work in the agricultural sector of Qom Province.
