BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 12. Iran’s imports through the customs of East Azerbaijan Province (north-western Iran) increased by 16 percent in value and 20 percent in volume, during the first three months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through June 21, 2023), compared to the same period in the last year, Customs Inspector of Iran's East Azerbaijan Province Leili Orangi said, Trend reports.
The official noted that more than 106,000 tons of goods worth $341 million were imported through the customs of East Azerbaijan Province in 3 months.
The main imported products through the province's customs are:
- Various vehicles and related spare parts (including, passenger cars, trucks, paving machines and machinery used in various fields) worth $176 million;
- Tobacco products worth $21 million;
- Cocoa worth $17 million;
- Wood and related products worth $13 million;
- Rubber products worth $10 million;
- Organic chemical products worth $9 million;
- Animal fat and vegetable oils worth $8 million.
Orangi also added that the goods were imported from 41 countries through the customs of the province within 3 months.
The goods were mainly imported from:
- Türkiye worth $170 million (a 5-percent increase compared to the same period last year)
- United Arab Emirates worth $53 million (a 37-percent increase)
- China worth $43 million (a 134-percent increase)
- Germany worth $25 million (an 18-percent increase)
- South Korea worth $11 million (a 45-percent increase)
- Italy worth $6 million (a 64-percent increase)
- Russia worth $5 million (a 119-percent increase)
- Azerbaijan worth $3 million (a 17-fold increase)
- Slovakia worth $3 million (a 10-fold increase)
- Belgium worth$ 2 million (a 4.5- fold increase).
Overall, Iran imported 9.6 million tons of non-oil products worth $14 billion within the first three months of the current Iranian year.
This is an increase of 5.79 percent in value and 1 percent in volume compared to the same period in the last year.
