BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 20. In total, 3.1 million tons of goods worth 331 trillion rials (about $7.88 billion) were sold at the Iran Mercantile Exchange (IME), during the last Iranian week (August 12 through August 17, 2023), Trend reports.
According to the report, the sales increased by 3.43 percent in value and 30.7 percent in volume compared to preceding Iranian week (August 5 through August 10, 2023).
So, 3.02 million tons of goods worth 320 trillion rials (about $7.5 billion) were sold at the Iran Mercantile Exchange (IME) in the preceding Iranian week.
Last week, around 2.5 million tons of goods worth 219 trillion rials (about $5.22 billion) were sold in IME's industrial and mining products section.
The main products sold in this section included cement, iron ore, steel, sponge iron, aluminum, copper, lead, molybdenum concentrate, etc.
Also, approximately 582,000 tons of various oil and petrochemical products worth 107 trillion rials (about $2.54 billion) were sold in the oil and petrochemical products section of IME last Iranian week.
The main products sold in this section were bitumen, vacuum bottom, polymers, chemicals, lube cut, base oil, petroleum products, sulfur, gas, etc.
At the same time, 18,700 tons of various products worth 4.97 trillion rials (about $118 million) were sold in the submarket section of the exchange.
Furthermore, 400 kg of saffron worth 174 billion rials (about $4.14 million) was sold in the agricultural section of the IME.
The Iran Mercantile Exchange (IME) operates in order to provide and set prices for many products. The price of products at the IME is determined based on supply and demand. The Exchange and Securities Organization of Iran is in favor of the wholesale sale of strategically important products by the Commodity Exchange.
