BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 3. Iran’s non-oil exports through Bilasuvar border terminal in Ardabil Province (north-western Iran) increased by 11 percent in volume, during the first 5 months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through August 22, 2023), compared to the same period last year, head of Bilasuvar border terminal Lotfollah Babaei said, Trend reports.
According to Babaei, about 203,000 tons of non-oil products were exported via Iran’s Bilasuvar border terminal in 5 months, while in the same period last year, the figure stood at 183,000 tons.
He added that the main exported non-oil products were agricultural products including peppers, potatoes, eggplant, salt, construction materials including fittings, building stones and ceramics, etc.
The official noted that the mentioned goods were mainly exported to Azerbaijan, Russia and Georgia.
“Furthermore, 10,700 tons of goods were imported through Bilasuvar border terminal for 5 months. The imported products were various kinds of paper, fruit juice, barley, etc.,” he said.
Babaei also pointed out that approximately 286,000 tons of cargo were transited via the Bilasuvar border terminal in 5 months. Mineral water, soft drinks, cloth, rice, etc. were the main transited goods.
Iran’s Bilasuvar border terminal is located on the border with Azerbaijan.
Overall, Iran exported 55.9 million tons of non-oil products worth $19.3 billion during the first 5 months of the current Iranian year, which is an increase of 26.5 percent in value, while a decrease of 8.55 percent in volume compared to the same period last year.
At the same time, Iran imported 14.4 million tons of goods worth $24.2 billion within the first 5 months of the current Iranian year. This is an increase of 7.49 percent in value and 2.17 percent in volume compared to the same period last year.
