BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 4. The production of various vehicles (including passenger cars, pick-up trucks, buses and minibuses, vans, lorries and trailers, and so on) in Iran increased by 27 percent, during the first five months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through August 22, 2023), compared to the same period last year, Trend reports.
According to the report of the Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade of Iran, a total of 536,903 various vehicles have been manufactured in Iran over 5 months.
Meanwhile, the figure stood at 422,275 units in the same period last Iranian year.
In the 5th month of the current Iranian year alone (July 23 through August 22, 2023), 94,032 various vehicles were manufactured in the country. This is an increase of 14 percent compared to 82,270 units in the same month of last Iranian year.
Overall, approximately 1.35 million vehicles, including passenger cars, pick-up trucks, heavy trucks and trailers, vans, buses and minibuses, and so on, were manufactured in Iran during the previous Iranian year (March 21, 2022 through March 20, 2023), a 39 percent increase over the previous year (March 21, 2021 through March 20, 2022).
There are three giant car manufacturing companies - Iran Khodro, Saipa, and Pars Khodro, operating in Iran. By implementing various projects, Iran intends to increase manufacturing in the auto industry.
