Iran’s fishery exports soar

BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 18. Iran's export of fish and related products increased by 32 percent in both in value and volume, during the first five months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through August 22, 2023), compared with the same time in the last year, an official of Iran Fisheries Organization Abbas Mokhtari said, Trend reports.

Mokhtari noted that more than 83,000 tons of fishery products worth $140 million were exported from Iran for 5 months.

“In 5 months, 11,100 tons of shrimp worth $37.6 million were exported from the country, which is 48 percent more in value and 46 percent more in volume compared with the same period last year,” he added.

According to him, Iran also exported 28,600 tons of fish feed worth $23.6 million during the specified period. This is 132 percent more in value and 88 percent more in volume compared to the same period last Iranian year.

At the same time, 3,340 tons of tuna fish worth $2.9 million were exported during the mentioned period. This is 198 percent more in value and 142 percent more in volume compared with the same time last year.

Meanwhile, Iran exported 181,000 tons of fish and related products worth over $605 million in the last Iranian year (March 21, 2022 through March 20, 2023).This is an increase of 8.8 percent in value and 9 percent in volume compared with the preceding year (March 21, 2021 through March 20, 2022).
