BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 9. More than 1.3 million tons of non-oil products worth $560 million were exported from Iran’s East Azerbaijan Province in the north-west of the country, in the first half of the current Iranian year (March 21 through September 22, 2023), Customs Inspector of Iran's East Azerbaijan Province Sadegh Namdar said, Trend reports.

According to Namdar, the province’s non-oil exports for the reporting period increased by 3 percent in value and 17 percent in volume compared to the same period last Iranian year.

He added that the province exported non-oil products to nearly 100 countries through its customs. The main destinations and their export values were: Türkiye ($198 million), Iraq ($152 million), Bulgaria ($31 million), Georgia ($26 million), Azerbaijan ($25 million), Russia ($24 million), Afghanistan ($20 million), Pakistan ($18 million), the UAE ($18 million) and other countries ($175 million).

The official also said the main goods exported via the province’s customs were steel products, rubber products, copper wires, various pipes, agricultural and food products, etc.

Overall, Iran exported 67.7 million tons of non-oil products worth over $24.1 billion in the first half of the current Iranian year (March 21 through August 22, 2023). This is an increase of 2.62 percent in value and a decrease of 29 percent in volume compared to the same period last year.

Iran's non-oil exports exclude only crude oil, mazut, and white oil. Due to imposed sanctions, Iran cannot freely export the mentioned products. That’s why it attaches importance to the export of non-oil products.
