BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 17. Iran's pistachio exports increased by 3 percent in value and 7 percent in volume during the first six months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through September 22, 2023), compared with the same time last year, Trend reports.

As reflected in the data of the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA), Iran exported 20,000 tons of pistachios worth $137 million in this period, making it one of its major agricultural products.

Pistachios accounted for 11 percent of Iran’s agricultural exports and 0.57 percent of its total non-oil exports in value.

Russia was Iran’s largest customer for pistachios, buying $28 million worth of them. Germany, the UAE, India, and Kyrgyzstan followed with $13.1 million, $13 million, $12.8 million, and $12.5 million, respectively. These five countries purchased 57.7 percent of Iran’s pistachio production.

Overall, Iran exported 67.7 million tons of non-oil products worth over $24.1 billion in the first half of the current Iranian year (March 21 through August 22, 2023). This is an increase of 2.62 percent in value and a decrease of 29 percent in volume compared to the same period last year.

Iran's non-oil exports exclude only crude oil, mazut, and white oil. Due to the imposed sanctions, Iran cannot freely export the mentioned products. That’s why it attaches importance to the export of non-oil products.
