BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 18. Iran imported 12,800 tons of goods through Bilasuvar border terminal in the Ardabil Province, located in the northwest of the country, in the first half of the current Iranian year (March 21 through September 22, 2023), head of Bilasuvar border terminal Lotfollah Babaei said, Trend reports.
This shows a significant increase of 143.8 percent compared to the same period last year, when Iran imported only 5,250 tons of goods via the same terminal.
Babaei said that the main imported products were paper, fruit juice, barley, and other items.
Bilasuvar border terminal is located on the border of Iran and Azerbaijan and facilitates trade between the two countries.
The increase in imports via Bilasuvar border terminal is in line with the overall growth of Iran’s imports in the first half of the current Iranian year.
According to the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA), Iran imported 17.6 million tons of goods worth $30.4 billion during this period. This represents an increase of 11.6 percent in value and 6.89 percent in volume compared to the same period last year.
Iran’s main import partners in this period were the UAE, China, Türkiye, Germany, and India. The main imported items were corn feed, mobile phones, and soybean seeds.
