BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 31. Iranian Markazi Province’s imports rose by 62.7 percent in value and 93.2 percent in volume in the first seven months of this Iranian year (March 21 through October 22, 2023), compared to the same period last year, Director General of Markazi Province Customs Office Alireza Sadeghi said, Trend reports.
According to Sadeghi, the province imported $555 million worth of goods weighing 188,000 tons in 7 months.
He also said that the main imports were lids of aluminum cans, anti-oxidants, carbon, pharmaceuticals, and more.
The director general added that these imports came from 47 countries, with the UAE, China, Türkiye, Iraq and Germany being the main sources.
Sadeghi noted that the province’s customs revenues reached about 4.17 trillion rials (about $99.2 million) in 7 months, which is a 22 percent increase compared to the same period last year.
Overall, Iran imported 20.9 million tons of goods worth $36 billion in the first seven months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through October 22, 2023). This is an increase of 12.6 percent in value and 6.21 percent in volume compared to the same period last year.
