BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 9. The passenger car manufacturing of Iran Khodro Industrial Group (IKCO) fell by 5.3 percent, during the first eight months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through November 21, 2023), compared to the same period last year, Trend reports.
The IKCO manufactured a total of 341,306 passenger cars in 8 months, according to the data from the company.
In the corresponding period the previous Iranian year, the company’s passenger car output stood at 360,385 units.
Over the course of eight months, the company produced 184,979 units of ‘Peugeot’, 54,935 units of ‘Dena’, 33,389 units of ‘Samand’, 29,681 units of ‘Tara’, 14,293 units of ‘Runna’, 12,079 units of ‘Haima’, and 11,950 units of other models of cars.
As previously reported, the IKCO aims to boost auto manufacturing by 50 percent by the end of the current Iranian year (March 21, 2023 through March 19, 2024).
In total, Iran Khodro Company manufactured 630,736 various vehicles (including passenger cars, pick-ups, trucks and trailers, vans, buses and minibuses) in the last Iranian year (March 21, 2022 through March 20, 2023).
This is an increase of 37.7 percent compared to 458,785 units in the preceding year (March 21, 2021 through March 20, 2022).
There are three giant car manufacturing companies - Iran Khodro, Saipa, and Pars Khodro, operating in Iran. By implementing various projects, Iran intends to increase manufacturing in the auto industry.
