BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 11. Iran increased its imports from Turkmenistan by 55.8 percent in value, reaching $28 million, in the first eight months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through November 21, 2023), compared to the same period last year, Trend reports.
However, the volume of imports decreased by 13.2 percent, amounting to 24,500 tons, according to the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA).
The figures show a contrast with the same period last year, when Iran imported about 28,200 tons of goods worth around $18 million from Turkmenistan.
The main items imported to Iran were petroleum coke, cotton, fabric, and others.
During the 8th month alone (October 23 through November 21, 2023), Iran imported 6,680 tons of goods worth $6.77 million from Turkmenistan.
The total imports of Iran in the first eight months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through November 21, 2023) were 24.7 million tons worth $42.2 billion, which represents an increase of 12.3 percent in value and 4.32 percent in volume compared to the same period last year.
