BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 11. Iran’s Mazandaran Province, in the north of the country, saw a 125-percent increase in the export of kiwi, orange and mandarin in the last 3 months (August 23 through November 21, 2023), compared to the same period last year, said Hasan Kheiranpour, deputy governor of Iran's Mazandaran Province, Trend reports.
Kheiranpour said that about 42,000 tons of these citrus fruits were exported from Mazandaran in this period, with 15,000 tons of oranges, 20,300 tons of mandarins and more than 6,500 tons of kiwi fruit.
“In contrast, only 18,600 tons of citrus fruits were exported in the same period last year, with 8,640 tons of mandarins, 5,400 tons of oranges and 4,570 tons of kiwi fruit,” he added.
Iran’s Mazandaran Province has an agricultural area of 460,000 hectares, producing more than 8 million tons of agricultural products annually. The province has 112,000 hectares of citrus orchards, of which 110,000 hectares are productive.
