Azerbaijan plans to increase honey production up to 40,000 tons

Azerbaijan plans to increase honey production from 11,000 tons to 40,000 tons during several years, the Agriculture Ministry told Trend.

“There are all necessary conditions in the regions of the country for honey production. For example, Azerbaijan has favorable places for development of honey production, which have not used, and production is expected to be increased at expense of these regions,” the Ministry stressed.

In 2005 Azerbaijan produced 10,000 tons of honey, or 5,000 more as compared 2004.

Beekeeping is mainly developed in the regions Dashkasan, Lerik and Yardimly.

Besides, the Ministry plans to organize a fair of beekeepers in September 2006.
