“The Azerbaijan State Caspian Shipping Company hold talks with Russia on permission for passage of its ships via the Volga-Don channels in 2006,” Aydin Bashirov, the chairman of the Company told Trend exclusively.
According to Bashirov, the number of passages will depend on the results of the talks. He noted that Azerbaijan supposed to sign documents on use of Russian internal waters.
In 2005 three Azerbaijani ships passed through the Russian internal waters against 20-22 in previous years. Though the Azerbaijani government addressed to Russia before the navigation season, it did not get necessary results. As a result of long negotiations the agreement was achieved during the working visit of Abbas Abbasov, the Azerbaijani First Prime Minister, to Moscow.
