The US government continues to work on defining the exact amount of aid to be offered to Azerbaijan in 2006, Finances Minister Avez Alekperov told Trend exclusively. $70.5mln arrived last year and $67.5mln in 2004.
$9.7mln of this amount was allocated to democratic problems ($12mln in 2004), $13,9mln to economic and social changes ($13.6mln), $31.1mln to security and law application ($11.3mln), $12.2 to humanitarian aid ($27.1mln) and $3.6mln within the frames of sector aid ($3.5mln in 2004).
According to suggestions submitted by Azerbaijan, aid amount this year should increase $100mln. Though, on preliminary information it should not be lower than the last year. The United States will define the projects and later adopt at the decision of congress.
