118 Hijacked Autos Found and Returned to Their Owners in Azerbaijan

Over 9 months, 2006, 118 hijacked vehicles have been found and returned to their owners in Azerbaijan, Arastun Majidov, Chief of the State Highway Patrol Police Department told Trend.

In the reporting period, the State Highway Patrol Police Department received 126 complaints concerning hijacking vehicles.

In 9 months, 2006, 31 persons who were wanted by the police have been found and passed to the inquiry bodies by officers of the Highway Patrol Police. In the reporting period, 4692,.64 grams of drug substances, including 100.94 grams of heroine were found.

Touching upon traffic accidents, it was pointed out that only in Baku, 1.179 such accidents that caused the death of 290 persons were registered.

The State Highway Patrol Police's officers detected 560 489 violations of the highway regulations connected with driving the car in a state of intoxication. Over 118 drivers were fined on the spot for violating the traffic regulations.
