(autoinsidernews) - The production version of the Ford Fairlane the automaker's replacement for its soon-to-be-discontinued minivans will be nearly identical to the concept shown at the 2005 Detroit Auto Show, Ford design chief J Mays told Ward's Auto.
It looks almost exactly the same Mays told Ward's. There are people within the company that can't see the difference and that's not a criticism of people in the company, it's a comment on how closely it resembles the concept.
The Fairlane-inspired crossover vehicle which will not carry the Fairlane nameplate replaces the Ford Freestar minivan, and will be joined by a Lincoln version. Production is expected to begin in February 2008, reports Trend.
Mays promised that the vehicles will be a very elegant, upscale people mover.
