Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend , corr S. Babayeva / Alan Bryden, the Secretary General of the International Standardization Organization, met Donor and Governmental Orginizations of Baku. Friday, he informed that Azerbaijan takes active participation in the introduction of inernational standards.
He added "Azerbaijan is a worthy member for the ISO. Recently I have been asked if ISO is to open an office in Baku. So, I have to note that we already have an office here in Baku, represented by AZSTAND, that is Governmental Agency for Standardazition, Metrology and Licences of Azerbaijan."
"We take into consideration the achievements in this sphere, but there are a number of issues urgent to be resolved"
"First of all, national priorities in the country should be clearly identified, as there are a plenty of ISO standards introduced all over the world that are necessary and recommended only for deifnite countries, " he stressed.
"Secondly, it is of great importance to introduce a monitoring on ISO standards to all the countries in order to have information about trends and changes permanently."
"And the last, to work solidly together with all the Ministers."
Bryden emphasized that taking into consideration the fact that Azerbaijan is taking preparations for joining World Trade Orginization, this aspect is very important.
