Investments in Azerbaijani Economy Increase by 6.6% in First Quarter of 2007

Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr I. Khalilova / Enterprises and organizations made up 1180mln-worth of investments in the economy of Azerbaijan during the first quarter of 2007. The figure rose by 6.6% compared with the same period of 2006. The State Statistics Committee reported that 592mln mantas were spent on repair and construction work.

Special weight of foreign investments made up 52.1%, while internal investments comprised 47.9%.

Investments in construction work in private sector increased by 37.7% compared with the same period of 2006. For the manufacture of construction enterprises 1017.2mln mantas (86.2%) was utilized.

New production and social enterprises were established during the first quarter of the year under the framework of the State Program on Social and Economic Development of Regions. A module electric power station with the capacity of 104 MW was put into operation in order to increase energy supply, 19,200 digital telephone stations were set up in different regions of the country and 190,600 sqm of new homes were put into commission.
