Azerbaijani State Customs Committee Releases Goods Transportation Volume

Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend / Azerbaijani means of transport transported 5,608,500 tons of goods in January-April, 2007 (83.14% compared to the same period of 2006).

According to the Azerbaijani State Customs Committee, 2,651,300 tons of the transported goods were exported and 2,957,300 imported.

The goods were transported mainly by sea (2,014,500 tons), railway (402,000 tons), motor-cars (230,300 tons), and air (1,600 tons).

Some 36,500 tons of the imported goods were transported by sea, 2,134,500 tons by railway, 424,500 tons by motor-cars, 7,000 by air, and 336,100 by pipeline.

Some 1,621,200 tons of goods were transported via Azerbaijan mainly to Switzerland (529,700 tons), Italy (344,500 tons), Georgia (338,400 tons), Tajikistan (152,600 tons), Iran (74,700 tons), Russia (59,300 tons), Turkey (54,600 tons), Turkmenistan (40,100 tons), and Kazakhstan (16,300 tons).

The total volume of the goods transported via Azerbaijani territory decreased by 408,900 tons, compared to the same period of 2005, and made up 79.86%.
