Azerbaijani State Veterinary Service Reveals Brucellosis among Cattle

S.Babayeva / The Azerbaijani State Veterinary Service at the Agriculture Ministry discussed the results of its prophylactic measures to combat brucellosis in a range of Azerbaijani regions. Yolchu Khanvali, the Press Secretary of the State Service reported that the results of the monitoring held in Bilasuvar and Imishli regions of Azerbaijan were discussed. According to Khanvali, the examination revealed the presence of infection among cattle.

"The examination has revealed that some five or six out of 10,000 cattle have been infected. Our goal is to eliminate the sources of infection," Khanvali said.

Similar examinations will be held in all regions of Azerbaijan.

Brucelosis is an infectious-allergic disease, accompanied by fever, infection of the reticuloendothelial, vascular and nervous systems, and involves the musculoskeletal system.

There are three types of brucellosis pathogenous that can affect humans.

The main sources of infection for humans are cattle and pigs. Brucella can be transferred through milk, urine, or excrement which pollutes the water and soil. The disease can be found everywhere.
