Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend / The application of new requirement by Georgia on the quality of diesel will

Not have negative yield negative outcomes for the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR), one of diesel suppliers to Georgia, SOCAR said.

The SOCAR supplies approximately 5,000 tons of fuel to the Georgian market and the SOCAR is not directly linked this country's market.

"This volume of fuel which is exported the Georgian market can be sold to another buyer," the company said.

The enactment of a decree to import diesel fuel with sulphur content of no less than 50 mg/kg in Georgia from 1 January 2008 is likely to be delayed, the Georgian experts think.

Vano Mtvaralashvili, the Chairman of the Union of Producers, Importers and Consumers of Oil Products, said that this decree will negatively impact the local market, because diesel fuel imported from Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan is comparatively cheaper. He added that following the enactment of this decree, the consumer is deprived of the opportunity of selection and the only diesel fuel available at the market is at a price of 15-20 tetri more than the Azerbaijani and Turkmen fuel. .
